  2. Keep all your sketches as you progress, as these will be evidence of your development towards the final drawing
  3. Refine your composition and sketches until you have high quality draft sketches. completing two colour drawings on A3 Bleed proof paper, comprising of views that may include; central front view, street approach view, interiors with close-up of merchandise display. Create simple close up drawings of retail displays.
  4. Demonstrate the use of Copic marker techniques for representing materials and  finishes. (e.g. glass, metal, timber, matt and gloss finishes)
  1. Create drawings/designs to scale & in proportion to your show understanding of one-point perspective. Drawings to be done in pencil, and fine liner and must include some marker illustration.
  1. Upload a digital image (photo) of your final drawings, all your original drawings must be observed and drawn in class and also submitted in a folder by due date.

TASK 2

Produce Shaded and Rendered Forms (Design a festive Table Styling Concept as well as a Table Centrepiece)

  1. You will research a theme to inform your design of a festive themed table setting concept and a decorative table centrepiece.

FINAL ASSESSMENT TASK: Draw Display Spaces and Elements - Design & Illustrate large scale retail display concepts.

This assessment will be completed and assessed in two stages.
Stage A: Planning and preparation.
Stage B: Complete final drawings and create presentation document.

You must be observed solving these drawing and design problems in class.

Stage A : Planning and preparation

You will commence Stage A by choosing a brand and promotional theme. You will use these to complete the following:

  1. 1 x brief written description/justification of your window concept (approx. 100 words)

  4. Produce Final A3 presentation document & upload as digital pdf to canvas
  5. Submit a cardboard folder with all original drawings and development materials

Key weekly milestones:

Week 11 Present brief and commence research and drawing. In this first session, you will commence your research and draw thumbnail sketches and ideas

Week 12 Present initial ideas and commence drawings. You will present your inspiration boards and initial sketches to the class for feedback. You will then develop and resolve the best idea in class.

Week 13 Create drawings. Convert concept sketches to working drawings and plans for construction.

Week 14 Create drawings continues. Convert concept sketches to working drawings and plans for construction.

Week 15 Present final concepts in class
In classroom finalise and submit final presentation

You must be observed creating these illustrations in class time so as to validate the authenticity of your work. Participation in the class room is the best way to ensure this.

You will also need to attend to clarify and solve any issues in design that may arise.

Activities you will need to be observed completing include:

  1. Coming to classes organised with drawing tools and equipment for selected techniques.
  2. Producing preliminary thumbnails and draft concept sketches and discussing their suitability with your teacher in class.
  3. Checking any copyright issues related to design inspirations.
  4. Completing full colour refined accurate illustrations that incorporates feedback from teacher.
  5. Creating a professional looking presentation document for all your work.

Students enrolled in Vocational Education and Training qualifications are assessed for Competency. To be assessed as Competent means you have consistently demonstrated the required knowledge and skills at a standard expected in the workplace. To be assessed as Competent in this course, you will need to complete each assessment task to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Results that apply to courses that are delivered and assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment are:

CA: Competency Achieved
NYC: Not Yet Competent
DNS: Did not Submit for Assessment
