This unit covers the knowledge and skills required to prepare and deliver a talk, including the structure and the communication skills required.

Details of Learning Activities


Course Description The purpose of this subject is to deliver the skills and knowledge required to
present researched information to clients and colleagues over a range of
business and computer contexts. Participants will be expected to identify and use
appropriate resources including databases, websites, periodicals and libraries to
gather and prepare information for work based purposes.
Information will be presented as individual oral presentations.

To apply oral communication principles to give appropriate technical
and business information to colleagues and clients over an allotted period of time.
Learning Activities Classroom based/teacher directed activities
Student discussion/ Small group workshops
Discussing group goals and projects
Planning and organising activities and meetings
Oral presentations of 2, 5 and 10 minutes
Use information technology as required.

Overview of Assessment

The student must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of a particular competency to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.
Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, homework and in class exercises, written tests, practical problem solving exercises, presentations and practical tests. Students are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to their teacher to ensure that the relevant competency standards are being met.
