Details of Learning Activities

The student will develop more complex skills in the configuration of layer 2 and layer 3 switches. They will enable VLANs (using VPT) and the protocols Spanning Tree, Rapid STP, and MiST to meet design requirements. Students will learn to configure redundant switched topologies using HSRP, VRRP and GLBP. They will configure voice vlans and various layer 2 security measures including port security.

Teaching Schedule

Weeks 1 & 2 VLANs, InterVLAN routing, VTP
Weeks 3 & 4 STP (Spanning Tree Protocol) and enhancements
Week 5 Multi Layer Switching and etherchannel
Weeks 6 & 7 Redundancy in the Routing Layer (e.g. HSRP)
Week 8 Voice VLANs
Week 9 Layer 2 security
Week 10 exam revision, CCNP3 Skills Test
Week 11 CCNP3 exam
