This unit covers fixing, securing and mounting techniques as apply in the various electrotechnology work functions. It encompasses the safe use of hand and portable power tools, safe lifting techniques and safe application of fixing devices and supporting accessories/equipment.

Overview of Assessment
This is a progressive assessment, the students are required to undertake summative assessments as follows:
• Practical work demonstration.
• Written assignment related to the scope of environmental protection and building regulations.
Task 1(Practical demonstration): 40%
Workshop practice to demonstrate:
• Working safely with electrical tools or equipment and the requirements for personal safety in the workplace.
• The method of hallow wall fixing and support devices
Task 2 (Practical demonstration): 40%
Workshop practice to demonstrate the method of solid wall fixing and support devices
Task 3 ( Building regulation assignment) : 20%
Written assignment to demonstrate an understanding of environmental protection and related building regulations.
