Course Description

This unit of competency describes the application of in-depth level of knowledge of medicine and pharmacology required to analyse, interpret a patient’s medical history and available health information to prevent and/or safely manage a medical emergency.

3.1 Classify drugs using medical nomenclature and terminology used in pharmacology

3.2 Identify and implement strategies to avoid adverse drug reactions, tolerance and dependence

3.3 Identify drugs taken by patients to ascertain and contradictions for dental treatment

4.3 Locate and use emergency equipment as needed in the dental clinic following the emergency protocol

Clinical Practice 3 is conducted in the Royal Dental Hospital Melbourne (RDHM).
