Course Description
This unit deals with the knowledge and skills required to initiate bleaching treatment for cosmetic purposes.

Overview of Assessment
Before the critical aspects of evidence are considered all prerequisites must be met.
The candidate must show evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit, manage tasks and manage contingencies in the context of the job role. There must be evidence that the candidate has:
- candidates must demonstrate their ability to apply essential knowledge identified for this competency unit before undertaking independent workplace application
- this competency unit should be assessed in conjunction with relevant competency unit(s) in delivery of the Advanced Diploma of Oral Health (Dental Hygiene)
- evidence must demonstrate the individual’s ability to apply their knowledge within the requirements of dental hygiene practice

To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency. Assessment methods have been designed to measure your achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks.
Assessment Tasks
There are three assessment tasks for this unit
Task 1. Discussion Board assignment Completion by 25 September
Task 2 Theory written exam 2 hours 25 September
Task 3 Practical assessment conducted in the clinic Student to student 1 October

Other Information
Note: The Pass mark for the exam is 60%.
Assignment will be marked as Satisfactory/Not satisfactory.
Students may be given the opportunity to resubmit the assignment if there are minor amendments
to be made and this is requested by the teacher and approved by the co-ordinator.
The practical assessment will take place in the clinic or simulated clinic. Students will be required to provide limited non invasive treatment procedures related to this unit on a fellow student for assessment purposes.
Students are required to achieve a Pass grade in all tasks to achieve Competence for this course.
Late work that is submitted without an application for an extension (see below) will not be corrected.
• APPLICATION FOR EXTENSION OF TIME FOR SUBMISSION OF ASSESSABLE WORK - A

before the due date. The application is lodged with the School Admin Office on Level 3 of Dental
Hospital. Students requiring longer extensions must apply for SPECIAL CONSIDERATION.
