This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this unit you will have the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid response, life support, management of casualty(s), the incident and other first aiders, until the arrival of medical or other assistance
Details of Learning Activities
Participate in theory sessions and workshops
Using workplace scenarios, participate in simulations/role plays/case studies dealing with first aid procedures
Simulation:
Participate in individual/team scenarios/role plays/case studies/simulations dealing with application of first aid in the dental prosthetist workplace.
Simulated emergency response exercises including:
• Single & Two Person - Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
• Defibulator
• Accident scene management
Workplace:
Participate in a practical placement in a designated dental prosthetist workplace and Minimising risks
Teaching Schedule
• Identify and minimise risks
• Assess casualty, identify injuries, illnesses and conditions
• Application of appropriate communication to the wounded to provide comfort
• Provision of first aid management in accordance with established first aid principles and procedures
• Correct operation of first aid equipment.
• Monitoring the casualty

• Accurate observations and assessment of casualty to relieving personnel
