This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to take a clinical dental photograph under conditions that can be reproduced.

There are no pre-requisites for this competency, however the assumed knowledge is that you have successfully completed the Diploma of Dental Technology

2. Prepare to take the photograph

3. Take required intraoral views using a standardised approach

4. Take a portrait and profile photograph

Overview of Assessment

To be deemed competent you must demonstrate an understanding of all aspects required of the competency, the underpinning knowledge and the skills application. Assessment methods have been designed to measure your achievement of the competency in a flexible manner over multiple tasks.

 

You must successfully complete each of the following assessment tasks to demonstrate competency, along with providing complete and appropriate information to at least 10 different patients:

Develop a Photographic portfolio – 50 photos (intra/extra oral)

Assignment – you are to develop practice manual planning photography in line with DBA guidelines
