There are no pre-requisites for this unit however it is assumed that you have successfully completed the Diploma of Dental Technology

Course Description

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, select and prepare appropriate instruments, equipment, materials and medicaments for specific removable dental prosthetic procedures. This unit applies to work in dental prosthetics. The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian/New Zealand Standards and industry codes of practice.

4.4 Monitor expiry dates of materials and medicaments and re-order materials correctly

4.5 Store materials and medicaments according to manufacturers’ instructions

4.6 Confine materials to clean zone of surgery to minimise contamination by aerosols and splatter

4.7 Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures when preparing materials

Overview of Assessment

 

You must successfully demonstrate each of the following assessment tasks covering both skills and knowledge in order to be deemed competent.

Assessment 1 - prepared the clinic for at least 4 different dental prosthetic procedures including: - locating each patient’s required laboratory work and necessary charts and records - selecting and preparing instruments and equipment as required for specific procedures - preparing relevant materials and medicaments for treatment - maintaining and storing equipment correctly and in good working order

Assessment 2 - consistently applied standard and additional precautions during preparation for 4 different prosthetic procedures including: - using personal protective equipment - using clean and sterile techniques where appropriate - maintaining and storing equipment correctly and in good working order.

Turnitin is an online text-matching service which can be used to support academic integrity and address plagiarism.
