2017 Enrolment Program Structure

To graduate you must complete the following:

  Year One of the Program - Students must successfully complete the total Sixteen units to graduate from either the Fashion Design Stream or Fashion Knitwear Stream. Students must choose only one of the Streams. A mix of both is not available.
 
AND  Year Two of the Program - Students must continue with the Stream chosen in Year One. A mix of both Streams is not available.
 

To be awarded the Associate Degree in Fashion Design and Technology you must successfully complete 16 courses of study over two years at RMIT. The program is delivered over four semesters.

The program is developmental and progressive in nature and allows students to build upon their growing capabilities in design, pattern making and commercial fashion trend identification.

Some pre-requisite courses / skills are needed in order to advance through the program.

All students must enrol into Semesters 1 & 2  2017 during the relevant enrolment period.

Year One of the Program - Students must successfully complete the total Sixteen units to graduate from either the Fashion Design Stream or Fashion Knitwear Stream. Students must choose only one of the Streams. A mix of both is not available.

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMMENDED THAT STUDENTS ATTEND THE INFORMATION SESSION PRIOR TO ENROLLING. At this session detailed information regarding, elective choices & content, program structure, timetable information and equipment requirements will be issued and you will be allocated a class group. Without an allocated group you will not be able to obtain the correct timetable.  If you choose not to attend this session- you need to enrol online into the following three courses only for Semester 1: - Design & Development 1, Pattern technology 1, Fashion Design & Drawing.

You will also need to contact a Program Coordinator to confirm an elective and obtain  a timetable, orientation & equipment information.

 For the semester 2 of your program you will need to enrol into the four courses listed under the Fashion Design stream:- Design & Development 2, Pattern Specifications, Pattern Technology 2, Fashion Design Concepts.

There will be an option of enrolling into the Fashion Knitwear stream of the program at the conclusion of Semester 1 (only if you have undertaken the Fashion Knitwear elective and only if you wish to persue furhter study in Fashion Knitwear. Studying the Knitwear elective does not mean you study the Knit Stream for the remainder of your studies) (***applicable to February intake students only)   - information will be provided to students prior to commencement of Semester 2

This is a Higher Education program that is delivered over a sixteen week semester.

If you have undertaken courses from the Fashion Design Stream in Semester 1- in Semester two of the program you MUST choose courses listed in the Fashion Design Stream to study for the second year of the program. If you have undertaken courses from the Fashion Knitwear Stream in Semester 1 - in Semester 2 of the program you MUST  choose courses listed in Fashion Knitwear Stream to study for the second year of the program.  Both streams enrol in the core course - Industry engagement.  BEFORE you enrol in the second year of the program please make sure you have sucessfully completed the pre-requisite courses in the first year of your studies. If you have not successfully completed any of your first year courses it is recommended you contact the Program Coordinators to discuss your study options before enrolling. if you are unsure please enrol in courses as stated to ensure you are not required to pay a late enrolment fee but make an appointment ASAP with a program coordinator to finalise your correct enrolment and receive an updated timtable etc.
