To graduate you must complete the following:

 

ALL core courses listed in Years 1 to 5 of the program, and appropriate Electives giving a total of 528 credit points.

AT LEAST 12 weeks of Engineering Work Experience, as described below.

Total credit points must be accumulated by obtaining a pass grade or approved credit transfer (exemptions) for all core courses listed below and appropriate electives.

**PLEASE NOTE: All courses may not be available each semester due to recent transitions. For further information or clarification, please contact your Program Manager. 

**PLEASE NOTE: Year 4 and 5 of this degree contain courses that are taught at the Bundoora campus. Students will need to enrol and complete these courses for the successful completion of their degree.

ENGINEERING WORK EXPERIENCE: Students are required to have completed Engineering Work Experience to satisfy the requirement that engineering graduates must have undertaken approximately 12 weeks of work experience in a relevant professional engineering workplace, or had experiences equivalent to such 12 weeks. Engineering work experience can be undertaken throughout your program of studies, and multiple placements can be used to satisfy the 12 weeks requirement. This activity contributes to the Work Integrated Learning of your program, is a requirement for graduation, and adds significantly to your employability.

When engaged in the engineering employment students need to be involved in activities that allow them to observe firsthand the sort of work that professional engineers undertake. Ideally students will be assisting a professional engineer and can engage in regular discourse with that mentor. It is not a requirement that positions are paid, or that any position is for the full 12 weeks, and any position that gives exposure to an engineering environment and professional engineers will contribute to the requirement.

The requirement for Engineering Work Experience may be satisfied in a number of ways and you may even choose to use several of these;

·         Employment with a suitable company in Australia or overseas (12 weeks continuously or equivalent in multiple shorter periods at different stages of your program)

·         An extended placement of 6 – 12 months

·         Completion of a final year “Professional Project” supervised by an external professional engineer.
