You may be eligible for credit or recognition of prior learning (RPL) toward your RMIT program. Please read the How to apply for credit information and complete the forms required. The Bachelor of Science (Applied Science)/Bachelor of Business (Management) double degree program allows you to select your science degree by choosing courses from biology; chemistry; physics; environmental science; biotechnology; and combine this with a business degree in management. From 2019 the double degree offers named majors in Applied Chemistry, Biological Sciences Physics and Biotechnology for the science degree which will appear in your testamur eg. Bachelor of Science (Applied Chemistry) /Bachelor of Business (Management). Your selection from a set of core courses will define your ‘major’ area of study.  For students following one of the Applied Chemistry, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology or Physics majors, it is advised that a program/plan change form to change from the general plan to a named degree is completed in the first year of study.  When completing one of these majors the course selection must be carefully followed over the four years of the degree program. There is also a wide selection of electives to supplement your major or your interest in other areas of science. You will need to select one Science elective and one University elective as part of your program.

Students are advised not to enrol in ENVI1142 as a Science Option course or University Elective as this course covers the same material that is in core biology and biotechnology courses, only at a more basic level.

Please note that majors in Biotechnology will deliver most of the years 2-4 science courses at the Bundoora campus.

Year One of Program

You should enrol in MATH2123 in Semester 1 and enrol in ONPS2334 in Semester 2.

Please note, in the Chemistry and the Biological sciences, students who have not undertaken the VCE study in this area should enrol in CHEM1242, ENVI1142 and PHYS2124. An exception is that all students interested in majoring in Biological Sciences or Biotechnology should enrol in BIOL2146, not ENVI1142. For students wanting to follow a Physics major, they should enrol in MATH1144 and PHYS2122 in Semester 1.
