  C4386 Courses

This qualification requires the completion of five core units and five elective units.The program is designed as a pathway for school leavers who did not attain the required skill level, or for those who have not studied for some years and who do not meet entry requirements, such as a senior secondary certificate to access higher level qualifications. The program develops the academic skills, knowledge and confidence required to access and participate in higher-level qualifications and enhances the learners further study prospects.

The objective of the Science stream is to prepare graduates for further study and to create pathways into the field of Science. To support this, upon successful completion of the qualification, guaranteed pathways are available (certain criteria must be met) into the following RMIT programs:

  • Diploma of Nursing (subject to passing the VETASSESS);
  • Diploma of Laboratory Technology (Biotechnology);
  • Diploma of Conservation and Land Management;
  • Diploma of Dental Technology.

A pathway into higher education may also be possible.

In order to support articulated pathways from this certificate into the above RMIT Programs, the program will use two grading systems.

For all CORE units of competency, the following is used:

  • CA Competency achieved
  • NYC Not yet competent
  • DNS Did not submit for assessment

For all ELECTIVE units of competency, the following is used:

  • CHD Competent with High Distinction
  • CDI Competent with Distinction
  • CC Competent with Credit
  • CAG Competency achieved graded
  • NYC Not yet competent
  • DNS Did not submit for assessment

PLEASE NOTE: Criteria for a guaranteed pathway will be explained as part of your induction program.
