The Master of Business Information Technology degree requires the completion of 192 credit points (CP) comprising of the following:

  • 9 Compulsory courses (108 CP)
  • 1 Capstone course (12 CP)
  • 1 Business Research Design course (12 CP)
  • 5 Elective courses (60 CP) as per approved elective options list (or approved by the Program Leader) Please note if the course is not on the approved list, you will need to contact Business Connect to seek approval before enrolling.

Please note: To complete an Australian Computer Society (ACS) accredited program at the professional level, you must complete 12 ICT courses in their program. Further information detailed below under Accreditation.

Please note: All courses listed may not be available each Semester, this is important to note when planning your enrolments. You must ensure that you satisfy the academic requirements of your program in order to graduate. 

 

 

Masters Advanced Standing 

Your eligibility for masters advanced standing was assessed as part of the admissions process in line with the RMIT Credit Policy. Masters advanced standing will have been included in your offer letter if you were assessed as eligible and will show in your offer letter as course exemptions with MX grades.  

If you have received masters advanced standing as part of the admissions process, you are required to complete twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. Please refer to thisprogram map for details.  

If you have not received masters advance standing as part of the admissions process, you are required to complete sixteen (16) courses (192 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. Please refer to this program map for details.

To complete an Australian Computer Society (ACS) accredited program at the professional level, students must complete 12 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) courses in their program.

Please note: Elective courses with course codes starting with ISYS, INTE and COSC are considered ICT related courses, students wanting to enrol into other courses should contact the Program Manager to confirm if the course meets the ICT requirement.

Stage B:

PROGRAM CHANGES FROM SEMESTER 2, 2022

The following four (4) Business Enabling courses have been removed from Year 1 of the program structure:

  1. BUSM1162 Management 1 - Managing People 
  2. BUSM3886 Business and Government in the Global Context 
  3. ISYS1028 Global Business and Social Technology: A Case Study Approach 
  4. ACCT2127 Accounting for Management Decisions 

The above (four) 4 Business Enabling courses are replaced with four (4) courses from the current options list. Please refer to the options course list below, which includes the following new optional courses:

  • ISYS3427 Blockchain Solutions and Smart Contracts  
  • INTE2572 Blockchain Strategy 
  • ECON1560 Blockchain and Cryptofinance 
  • OMGT2191 Strategic Operations and Supply Chain Management 
  • ACCT2279 Strategic Management Control Systems 

 

Students who have received exemptions for the four (4) Business Enabling courses, prior to Semester 2 2022: 

The courses will be recognised as part of your program, and no further action is required. You may continue your program enrolment as planned. 

 

Students who have successfully completed or received exemptions for up to three of the four (4) Business Enabling courses, prior to Semester 2 2022, will need to complete additional courses as detailed below:

  • Students who have completed one Business Enabling course, you must complete an additional three courses (36 credit points) from the options course list.
  • Students who have completed two Business Enabling courses, must complete an additional two courses (24 credit points) from the options course list.
  • Students who have completed three Business Enabling courses, must complete one additional course (12 credit points) from the options course list.

Please also note the following changes: 

  • If you have completed ISYS2396 Enterprise Systems as an optional course, you do not need to complete ISYS2396 Intelligent Enterprise Systems as this is a course title change only (effective semester 1 2023).
  • If you have completed ISYS1015 Managing Digital Business, this will continue to be counted as an optional elective (12 credit points). This course is no longer offered as an optional elective from semester 2 2022. 
  • If you have completed INTE1040 Business Intelligence, this will continue to be counted as an optional elective (12 credit points). This course is no longer offered as an optional elective from semester 2 2022. 
  • If you have completed BUSM4119 Asian Management Issues, this will continue to be counted as an optional elective (12 credit points). This course is no longer offered as an optional elective from semester 2 2022.

Enrolment Load

The maximum standard enrolment load per semester is 48 credit points.

 

Overloading

You will only be permitted to overload by a maximum of 12 credit points in the final semester of your program, upon approval from the College.
