PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
To be considered for admission into the program you should normally hold and provide the documents below: 1. Hold a Bachelor of Nursing (BN) degree or equivalent, or a Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from an approved higher education institution (in the case of registered nurses with senior experience in mental health a diploma may be considered equivalent). Provide a copy of your transcript. 2. Hold a current registration or be eligible for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Provide a copy of your current registration. 3. Have completed 830 hours of clinical practice in an approved mental health service or employed to do this during the program. Provide a copy of your grad year contract or letter from HR outlining your hours. All core courses are offered flexibly in response with industry demand with options for teaching interactions. ENROLMENT LOAD Reduction in enrolment study load requires approval from program manager.

Academic integrity The repercussions for breaking the rules – even accidentally – are serious, from failing an assessment to charges of academic misconduct and exclusion from a program. _________________________________________________________________ MC268 is a two year program. Year one of the program encompasses Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing completed at RMIT or at another university. Students commencing MC268 should enrol in year two of the program. NURS1049 Mental Health Nursing Clinical Portfolio will not be offered in 2024, as applicants meeting entry criteria will be eligible for RPL (recognition of prior learning). Evidence of work within mental health is required for NURS1049 RPL eligibility. Please submit the RPL application online here.

If you have completed an RMIT approved Mental Health Nursing Graduate year, please apply for RPL for this course in place of your elective NURS1051 Clinical Learning and Teaching or NURS1066 Context of Mental Health Nursing.
