Program Learning Outcomes Statement

As a graduate of this program you will develop a set of capabilities, skills, knowledge and attitudes appropriate to the Aviation Industry and CASA standards. Capability development is an essential and integral part of the learning associated with each course within the program and are described as:

Technical Competence, the ability to establish technical skills appropriate to the diversity of practice in the Aviation Industry.
    TC1
: Demonstrate knowledge of underpinning theoretical aviation principles, and analyse information to complete a range of activities.
    TC2: Demonstrate the cognitive, technical and creative thinking skills to a broad understanding of the  aviation industry, and to provide specialist advice and functions.
    TC3: Ability to apply a depth of knowledge in a range of industry practice fundamentals in contexts that are subject to change, and adapt knowledge and skills in a range of contexts.
    TC4: Demonstrate the application of skills and knowledge to adapt fundamental principles, concepts and techniques to known and unknown situations

Integrative Perspective is the developed broader perspective within the aviation industry, and external to it, and also to demonstrate ability to work with complex systems.
    IP1
: Ability to undertake problem identification, formulation and solution to unpredictable and sometimes complex problems.
    IP2: Ability to utilise a systems approach to operational activities to identify, analyse and evaluate information and concepts from a range of sources.
    IP3: Ability to plan and execute activities to an appropriate professional standard.
    IP4: Initiative and judgement in planning, problem solving and decision making in aviation practice; with communication and analytical skills to interpret and transmit responses to sometimes complex problems.

Professional Practice recognises and applies aviation industry skills, attitudes and professional standards.
    PP1
: Ability to communicate effectively, not only within the aviation sector but with the community at large, and to transmit information and skills to others.
    PP2: Communication skills to make clear and coherent presentation of knowledge and ideas with some intellectual independence.
    PP3: Ability to function effectively as an individual and in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, with the capacity to be an effective team member as well as to take on roles of responsibility.
    PP4: Understanding of social, cultural, global and environmental responsibilities associated with the aviation industry, and the principles of sustainability
    PP5: Understanding of and commitment to professional and ethical responsibilities
    PP6: Responsibility and accountability for own learning and work in collaboration with others within broad parameters.
