Purpose of the Program

This program is designed to provide you with knowledge and skills that will enhance your value in the Aviation Industry environment and will also prepare you to undertake the CASA Commercial Pilot Licence Theory & Flight tests. In addition to your Commercial Pilot Licence training, you may elect to undertake courses in either Instrument or Instructor Ratings to further your employment opportunities as a pilot in the broader aviation industry.

The Associate Degree in Aviation provides a tertiary award in conjunction with a structured aviation training program on campus at Bendigo, and on RMIT City Campus where you will be required to attend classes for Aviation Theory. This program meets the requirements of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority through the provision of theory and practical training at the Bendigo campus and the RMIT City campus where you will attend non-flying classes one day per week. The program contains relevant and appropriate courses to encompass cognitive, technical and communication skills required by the Aviation industry.

The program design and associated capability development has been endorsed by a range of Aviation industry experts, consisting of senior pilots and operations personnel from Australia's major airlines and aerospace organisations.

This program offers capstone projects in second year flying courses to gain higher level CASA pilot licences either at Air Transport Pilot Licence 1&2 AERO 2577 or Flight Instructor Rating AERO 2620 levels on the Point Cook Campus. These licences focus on Australian aviation requirements where you are able apply your critical thinking, judgement, problem-solving skills, and industry legislative knowledge as capstone goals.

This program is available for on-campus study.
