Purpose of the Program

The RMIT University B Bus (IS) (Applied) is designed to enable you, upon completion, to create business information systems (IS) solutions that draw on knowledge related to:

- Business
- Information Systems
- Information Technology
- Interpersonal Skills

During your degree you will have many hands-on practical learning experiences that will equip you to cope with the requirements of your employer when you start work. You will also have the opportunity to do a major in another business discipline or minors in information systems, business and other disciplines to extend your information systems studies.

As a successful graduate of the degree you will be in a position where virtually any organization is a potential employer. This includes companies in health, retail, banking, farming, teaching, transport, manufacturing, publishing, telecommunications, education, libraries and most other industries. Examples of companies where our graduates are currently working are: IBM, National Australia Bank, KPMG, General Motors Holden, ANZ, Price Waterhouse Coopers and many other notable companies. You will also qualify to become a member of the Australian Computer Society upon your successful completion of the degree.

Articulation and pathways

Credit and exemptions will be assessed consistent with the principles of the RMIT Univeristy Credit Policy. Applicants who have completed studies or have partially completed a similar program at another institution (with entry criteria similar to this program) may be accepted with some credits or exemptions being granted towards this program.

Entrance requirements

For the RMIT Vietnam program you will have to have received the Bang Tot Nghiep Pho Thong Trung Hoc (Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate) with a Minimum Grade of 7.0 to enter the program.

For entry via the Diploma of Commerce RMIT Vietnam, you must have successfully completed all of the requirements of this Diploma to be given entry to the program. Some students may enter the program with credit granted on the basis of studies already completed at an equivalent level in an area related to Information Technology.

External accreditation and industry links

The B Bus (IS) (Applied) is accredited by the Australian Computing Society (ACS). When you complete the degree you may apply for membership of the ACS. The B Bus (IS) (Applied) is recognised by the Australian Computer Society (ACS). On successful completion of the B Bus (IS) (Applied) graduates are entitled to membership of the Australian Computer Society.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

All RMIT University students have unlimited access to quality electronic resources such as e-books, e-journals, newspapers, and streaming media. Library staff can show you how to find information for your assignments, or you can work through Library subject guides and web-based tutorials, or use our online Ask a Librarian service. 

Computers for study are available at every Library site and wireless access is available if you are working from a laptop or mobile device.
