A rapidly changing world requires adaptable analytical skills. This degree provides you the knowledge and skills required in the management of enterprises in both the public and private sectors. This involves both a broad-based multidisciplinary approach and the opportunity for focused, professional training in areas such as economics and finance.
Over the duration of the program you will experience a variety of learning experiences which are designed to assist you in developing skills as a graduate in Economics and Finance and as an independent and lifelong learner. Teaching and learning approaches for this program may include: lectures and tutorials, problem-based learning, assignments, projects, the use of assessment and feedback tools, and activities using the Financial Markets Training Simulator. The types of assessment used in the program may take the form of formal examinations, assignments, case studies, projects, and in-class tests.
The application of theoretical learning to a discipline-related work situation is an essential part of the program. You will have the opportunity to directly apply academic skills to a work context through work integrated learning designated courses such as, ‘Forecasting and Quantitative Analysis’ and ‘Equity Investment and Portfolio Management’, or through activities involving case studies and assignments.
The range of occupations available for graduates of this program is varied. The economics/finance/financial planning disciplines embedded in this program prepare graduates for a broad spectrum of occupations ranging from banking, stockbroking, funds management, insurance and superannuation industries or in other private sector or government organisations which have a requirement for high level, technical expertise in financial or economic analysis.
The final year of the program includes the capstone course BAFI3234 International Finance which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on, consolidate and apply the theoretical approaches and work-practice experiences gained throughout the program in discipline related real-world scenarios, providing you with the skills and attributes necessary for work-readiness in your chosen career field or to progress successfully to further studies at the graduate level.

Credit and exemptions will be assessed consistent with the principles of the RMIT University Credit Policy. Applicants who have completed studies or have partially completed a similar program at another institution (with entry criteria similar to this program) may be accepted with some credits or exemptions being granted towards this program.
Credit pathways between RMIT University programs enable you upon graduating from an RMIT University qualification to apply for advanced standing in a higher level qualification.

Vietnam - Trimester 1, 2023 is the final intake for BP251 Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance).
For the RMIT Vietnam program students will have to have received the Bang Tot Nghiep Pho Thong Trung Hoc (Upper Secondary School Graduation Certificate) with a Minimum Grade of 7.0 to enter the program.
In addition to your academic entrance requirements, you must meet at least one of the following requirements with respect to your proficiency in English Language:
- IELTS 6.5 (No band less than 6.0) or equivalent
- TOEFL at least 580 (TWE 4.5) paper-based or
- TOEFL 237 (TWE 4.5) computer-based
- TOEFL (Internet Based Test-iBT) overall score 92, minimum 20 in all sections
