Purpose of the Program

The Bachelor of Business (International Business) program provides you with technical and critical knowledge and skills in international business to apply in diverse global contexts. A broad-based curriculum incorporates: international business, finance, trade, logistics, responsible business, cross-cultural management, political economy of international business, and creativity, innovation and design. The program focuses on professional training in contemporary international business. In addition to the core program courses you can take a range of minors and electives from across the School of Management and College of Business, as advised by your local institution.

Over the duration of this program you will participate in a variety of learning experiences which are designed to support you in developing skills as an International Business graduate. Learning and teaching approaches for this program may include lectures and tutorials, problem-based learning, case studies, work-integrated learning, assignments, projects and examinations. Activities and assignments are designed to facilitate theory application and peer learning in a friendly, open atmosphere.

The final year of the program includes the capstone course BUSM4694 Political Economy of Global Business which will provide you the opportunity to critically reflect on and consolidate your theoretical and practical learning.

The program will prepare you to work as a professional in a wide range of industries, government and non- government organisations that increasingly require high level international skills.

Articulation and pathways

You may gain entry into this program from a: 

Three (3) Year Non-Business Diploma

 

If selected you will get credit for:

Eight (8) courses (96 credit points) equivalent to two (2) full-time semesters or one (1) full-time year

 

The courses for which you may get credit are:

Business Minor (four [4)] courses from the same discipline

AND

Four (4) Electives (courses from any discipline)

 

 

 

You may gain entry into this program from a:

Three (3) year Business Diploma

 

 

If selected you will get credit for:

Twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) equivalent to three (3) full-time semesters or 1.5 full-time years

 

The courses for which you may get credit are:

A combination of Business Core and Flexible courses

Entrance requirements

Semester 1 2023 is the final intake for BP253SIM Bachelor of Business (International Business).

The Academic entry criteria for the program are as follows:

(a) A completed secondary education in Singapore and has achieved:

  • 3 GCE 'A' Level passes; or
  • Completed a minimum of 3 H2 level subjects with a pass or above.

OR

(b) Where an applicant does not have a Singaporean secondary qualification, they must meet the RMIT University criteria for their respective country of secondary education study as approved by RMIT, and notified to SIM by RMIT - as listed on the RMIT website under entry requirements by country - https://www.rmit.edu.au/study-with-us/international-students/apply-to-rmit-international-students/entry-requirements

Admission by international students is also subject to the approval of the student pass by the Singapore Government.

OR

(c) An approved Business diploma from a recognised Singaporean Polytechnic where the language of instruction is English.

OR

(d) The Diploma in Management Studies from SIMPL.

OR

(e) An approved non-Business diploma from a recognised Singaporean Polytechnic where the language of instruction is English.

OR

(f) Any other equivalent qualifications or combination of qualifications and experience as assessed by RMIT University on a case-by-case basis.

The English language entry criteria for the programs are:

Applicants who have not obtained a minimum of C or C6 in General Paper (AO/H1 Level) or Knowledge and Inquiry (H2) must provide evidence of at least ONE of the following:

IELTS - Total of 6.5 (with no band less than 6.0);

TOEFL - Paper-Based (PBT) = 580 (TWE 4.5);

TOEFL - internet-Based (iBT) = Overall score of 92, with a minimum 20 in all sections;

Pearson Test of English (Academic) (PTE(A) = 58 (no bank less than 50);

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) = CAE Grade B (no band less than Good);

Successful completion of a recognised approved Diploma qualification or higher as where the language of instruction was English;

This program is not accredited by any professional bodies. However, some professional bodies may offer qualification recognition post-graduation on a case by case basis. Students and/or graduates should contact the professional body of interest directly to seek advice on recognition of their qualification.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
