Program Learning Outcomes Statement

The Program develops the following Program Learning Outcomes for Bachelor of Science (Physics):

PLO 1: Understanding science:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the ways of scientific thinking by recognising the creative endeavour involved in acquiring knowledge and the testable and contestable nature of the principles of physics
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the essential role physics plays in society and underpins many industrial and technological advances.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role and importance of evidence in the continuous evolution of scientific and physics knowledge.

PLO-2: Scientific knowledge

  • Broad knowledge in physics, with deep knowledge of, and applying the principles and concepts of physics
  • Knowledge in at least one discipline other than physics and some understanding of interdisciplinary linkages.

PLO-3: Inquiry and Problem Solving

  • Plan and carry out a research project under supervision, showing the development of some capacity for independent work.
  • Gather, critically review and synthesise information relevant to a scientific inquiry or research project.
  • You will be able to choose appropriate tools and methods to solve scientific problems within your area of specialization.
  • Well-developed problem solving skills, applying your knowledge and using your ability to think analytically and creatively.
  • Ability to accurately record, analyse, interpret and critically evaluate your research findings.

PLO-4: Communication

  • Communicate physics knowledge by presenting information, articulate arguments and conclusions, in a variety of modes, to diverse audiences, and for a range of purposes.
  • Communicate the solution to a problem or the results of a scientific investigation using appropriate methods for different audiences.

PLO-5: Personal and professional responsibility

  • Develop personal, professional and social responsibility by demonstrating a capacity for self-directed learning will demonstrate accountability for your own learning and professional conduct.
  • Work responsibly, safely, legally and ethically.
  • Develop an ability to work collaboratively.

The Program develops the following Program Learning Outcomes for Bachelor of Business (Management):

  1. Apply broad theoretical and technical knowledge of business practice in diverse contexts
  2. Integrate specialist theoretical knowledge with technical skills to provide in-depth professional advice related to the management, financial, marketing, human resource and ethical aspects of contemporary organisations
  3. Critically analyse and synthesise information to formulate effective business decisions
  4. Apply reasoned judgements to solve problems in a variety of business contexts with reference to ethical, regulatory and global perspectives
  5. Reflect on performance feedback to identify and action strategies for improvement
  6. Communicate business data and concepts to professionals and non-professionals in diverse contexts
  7. Apply an adaptive and collaborative approach to working with others in a variety of business and professional contexts
  8. Integrate and apply professional theory with practice in authentic Work Integrated Learning (WIL) contexts
