Approach to learning and assessment

The duration of the program is a apprenticeship, set up as 4 'stages' over the duration of your training plan . The majority of the program is be assessed and delivererd in your workplace with input and guidance from your employer/supervisor and RMIT staff. RMIT staff will come to your work site regularly for the duration of the program; to guide you and your employer through the skills and knowledge requirements for each stage of trainig. Assessments will consist of  a mixture of underpinning knowledge quizes and practical observed tasks demonstrated on the job.

Where your workplace can not provide you with some of the required training package elements or performance outcomes for assessment, this can be completed on campus at RMIT by arrangment or as required.

Please note: If you have a long term medical condition, disability and/or other form of disadvantage it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or the Disability Liaison Unit if you would like to find out more.

Work integrated learning

RMIT University is committed to providing you with an education that strongly links formal learning with workplace experience. As a student enrolled in this RMIT University program you will be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate vocational competency.

As you are working as an apprentice, you will also be learning while at work and may have the opportunity to be assessed in your workplace for some or all of your courses. Feedback from work supervisors and others in the workplace can be used as evidence of competency, and an RMIT University assessor can visit your workplace to observe your work practice.
