Approach to learning and assessment

The learning activities include:

Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

Assessment will incorporate a variety of methods including technical requirements documentation, workplace activities, in class exercises, quizzes, practical problem solving exercises, presentations and clinical experiences. 

If you have a long term medical condition, disability and/or other form of disadvantage it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or the Equitable services unit for more details.

It is a requirement of the program to successfully complete at least 120 hours of placement work (clinical placement).

Work integrated learning

RMIT University is committed to providing you with an education that strongly links formal learning with workplace experience. As a student enrolled in this RMIT University program you will be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and demonstrate vocational competency. 

As part of this program you will be required to complete 120 hours of work integrated learning in a clinical environment. RMIT will arrange a suitable placement for every student.

Program transition plan

Due to the upgrade of the HLT Training Package, the Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance will be amended. The new qualification will be delivered to all commencing students in Semester 2, 2023.

The HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance will be replaced by HLT43021 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. This is because of national changes to this qualification, which include changes to some of the courses in the program. If you complete all the requirements of your current HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance, you will be eligible to graduate with HLT43015 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance. If you are unable to complete this program in the required timeframe, we will support you to transfer to the new HLT43021 Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance.
