Purpose of the Program

This qualification reflects the role of those involved in providing management services for strata communities.

In most situations, the individual will work independently but may operate as part of a strata community management team. In this role, the person will perform all functions associated with the administration of strata communities, including facilitating meetings of strata community members, administering insurance for strata communities, handling strata community funds, as well as maintaining business records and reporting on the financial activities of strata communities.

You will be studying this qualifications in order to learn about strata schemes and communities; the functions and duties of a manager including the administration and facilitation of meetings, handling strata funds and reporting on financial activities, administering insurance, implementing contracts of appointment and the ability to read plans.

Articulation and pathways

Currently there are no articulation agreement in place with other RMIT Programs.

However, upon graduating from an RMIT University qualification, you can apply for advanced standing in a higher level qualification.

Entrance requirements

Students will need to be working in the strata or property industry with over 12 months experience. Assessment tasks are focused on work based projects, or industry operations and performance evidence.

External accreditation and industry links

The certificate is an industry accredited program for professionals working in strata management or professionals in the property sector. This program was developed by RMIT University in partnership with Strata Community Association.

Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to strata community management in some States. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

The completion of the Certificate IV in Strata Community Management ables the participant to apply for the Level 2 – Certified Strata Community Manager (CSCM). Refer to https://www.strata.community/about-us/accreditation.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program, you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
