Work integrated learning

RMIT is committed to providing you with an education that strongly links formal learning with workplace experience.  As a student enrolled in this RMIT program you will:

  • undertake and be assessed on structured activities that allow you to learn, apply and  demonstrate your professional or vocational practice;
  • interact with industry and community when undertaking these activities; and
  • complete these activities in a real work contexts or situations and in addition
  • these interactions and the work contexts provide distinctive sources of feedback to you to assist your learning.

Examples of work integrated learning within this program include:

  • RMIT Massage & Myotherapy Teaching Clinics: The massage and myotherapy clinics are open to members of the public and are managed and run by students enrolled in the Diploma of Remedial Massage. Students provide treatment to members of the public in this real workplace environment, under the supervision of qualified and experienced clinical supervisors. You will be assessed in this environment.
  • Simulated Work Activities: Many of the classes in this program will involve practical simulations of work situations.  In these simulations you will be required to implement your skills and knowledge to demonstrate that you are able to work to industry standards.
  • Industry Partner Placements: In addition to student clinic and as part of our commitment to training, students will be placed with some of our industry partners. These placements are compulsory and RMIT as well as its industry partners have an expectation of a regular commitment to treatment days.

Students must hold a valid Working With Children Check, Police Check and evidence of immunisation status prior to undertaking placement and work integrated learning components of this program.
