Students will be allocated 600 hours of clinical placement at Epworth HealthCare facilities (an additional 200 hours compared to standard Diploma of Nursing programs). These placements will be at Epworth HealthCare facilities around inner Melbourne.
Given the work experience gained, the prospect of employment for students afterwards is very high.

Aims of the Diploma of Nursing Program

The aim of this program is to provide you with education and training in line with the Enrolled Nursing Entry to Practice Requirements, embracing the ANMAC Code of Ethics and the ANMAC Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards 2017.

This qualification reflects the role of an enrolled nurse working under supervision of a registered nurse. This qualification covers the application of skills and knowledge required to provide nursing care for people across the health sector. A lifespan approach should underpin this qualification with relevant competencies that relate to the different stages of life identified within the units. To be eligible to apply for registration as an enrolled nurse and to practice in Australia, you must complete a Diploma of Nursing program accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approved as ‘an approved program of study’ by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA ) in accordance with the Enrolled Nurse Accreditation Standards

Enrolled Nurses are required to be information technology literate with specific skill in the application of health care technology. The Enrolled Nurse is required to demonstrate critical and reflective thinking skills in contributing to decision making which includes, reporting changes in health and functional status and individual responses to health care interventions.

Enrolled-Division 2 Nurses work as a part of the health care team to advocate for and facilitate the involvement of individuals, their families and significant others in planning and evaluating care and progress towards health outcomes.

ANMAC Code of Ethics for Nurses

  1. Nurses value quality nursing care for all people.
  2. Nurses value respect and kindness for self and others.
  3. Nurses value the diversity of people.
  4. Nurses value access to quality nursing and health care for all people.
  5. Nurses value informed decision-making.
  6. Nurses value a culture of safety in nursing and health care.
  7. Nurses value ethical management of information.
