Approach to learning and assessment

The program is delivered fully online over a period of 12 months and is self paced. The design of the program is such that it draws upon students’ industry experience and, at the same time, allows for students to grow and build upon that experience through projects which have real-world relevance. This qualification covers the competencies required to translate special purpose texts from one language to another, to convey information written using specific terminology for a specific audience in functionally equivalent translated texts that are accurate and appropriate to the context, target audience and end use.

Successful completion of this program requires you to demonstrate that you are competent in 13 units of competency. For learning and assessment purposes these units of competency have been placed into clusters, or are delivered as individual units.

Assessment occurs throughout the program and includes but is not limited to:

  • written work such as questions and answers, writing assessment reports, reflective journals.
  • delivery of research/project presentations
  • translation tasks

If you have a long-term medical condition, disability and/or other form of disadvantage it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the Program Coordinator or the Equitable Learning Service Unit (https://www.rmit.edu.au/students/support-and-facilities/student-support/equitable-learning-services) if you would like to find out more.
