Purpose of the Program
The Diploma of Commerce provides an introduction to general business studies. This program introduces you to fundamental knowledge and concepts in business, and develops your technical skills. This program is equivalent to the first year of undergraduate business degrees and will facilitate articulation into the Second Year of the AD029 Associate Degree in Business and also the second year of the BP343 Bachelor of Business Program at RMIT.
The program was co-designed with the College of Business and Law (CoBL) to create a seamless transition into the BP343 Bachelor of Business by allowing you to explore some of the potential majors that you could complete in the BP343 Bachelor of Business. Some of the courses will be granted as matched credit [up to 96 CP].
The Diploma of Commerce provides you with various opportunities to develop skills for direct work outcomes as well as facilitate a transition to further education through embedded business communication and academic learning skills. Career opportunities for graduates exist in both public and private business sectors, small and large enterprises and across a range of industries.
This program provides you opportunities to solve real business problems through structured activities such as workshops and projects. You will develop your knowledge and skills by attending lectures and tutorials, writing reports and participating in class discussions.
You will be guided to keep an e-portfolio within the four Foundation Courses listed below.
The Diploma of Commerce includes key curriculum features to support your learning and attainment of graduate attributes. This includes introductory level business foundation courses to allow you to contextualise business education and learning.
