Approach to learning and assessment

In this program you will be able to engage in a variety of learning activities including group discussions, problem-based learning activities and reflection on practice. In addition to informal discussions you will make one formal presentation. Alongside the explorations of theory and practice within the learning group you will need to familiarise yourself with the relevant literature and test out ideas in relation to your practice by engaging in assessment activities and through discussion with a mentor. You are encouraged to keep a learning journal which allows you to consider the implications of reading and class activities for your practice.

Learning activities are designed to enhance your ability to critically analyse your existing approach to learning and teaching in relation to educational literature and empirical evidence, propose strategies for improved course design and teaching and communicate ideas for learning design to colleagues.

You will develop your capabilities through a range of learning styles, activities and assessments that include the use of: case studies, reflective practice, peer feedback, learning technologies, problem-based learning, comparative analysis, and internationally relevant exemplars.

If you have a long term medical condition and/or disability it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or the Disability Liaison Unit if you would like to find out more.

If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program. There is information on the RMIT University website about how to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) http://www.rmit.edu.au/students/enrolment/credit/he
