Top of pagePurpose of the Program
The Graduate Certificate in Project Management provides a dynamic learning environment which will introduce you to the study of project management for application within the IT industry. This program will provide you with a foundation to further develop the skills and knowledge required to progress within the IT industry or diversify your professional practice and/or undertake further study.
This program emphasises the application of theoretical knowledge to practice. The progam is delivered face to face and is offered in the RMIT City Campus. The courses delivered within the program introduce you to the specialised domains within the field of project management and include a focus on agile project management, a core requirement for the IT professional.
In conjunction with the GD194 Graduate Diploma in Project Management and the MC210 Master of Project Management, this program addresses the industry need for project management specialists who are equipped to work within and adapt to the ever changing IT industry context.
Graduates may pursue many professional pathways, including through supporting the management of small through to large scale IT projects across diverse sectors.
Upon graduation you will be able to work as a project management professional and apply specialised knowledge acquired in the program with a focus on the information technology sector. You will be able to perform a broad range of roles that project management entails, ranging from supporting the scoping and management of projects, through to project completion and evaluation.
Upon graduation with a Graduate Diploma in Project Management you will be able to apply your capability and expertise to diverse organisations within the InformationTechnology sector.
Successful completion of this program also provides a pathway to further learning in the GD194 Graduate Diploma in Project Management or the MC210 Master of Project Management.
Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management program you may also be eligible to undertake further studies in related programs at RMIT University.

Students who successfully complete this program may apply to continue their studies in GD194 Graduate Diploma in Project Management or MC210 Master of Project Management and will receive 48 credit points of exemption (equivalent to 1 semester full-time study).
This program is available as an exit award of GD194 Graduate Diploma in Project Management or MC210 Master of Project Management if you have successfully completed the 48 credit points listed in this structure.
If you have already developed areas of skill and knowledge included in this program (for example, through prior studies or work experience), you can apply for credit once you have enrolled in this program.

You must have successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification), or a minimum of 5 years professional work experience in a related industry. Applicants with professional experience at a senior level that is less than 5 years may also be considered.
To have your professional experience considered you must include in your application a CV and a personal statement detailing your experience.
English language requirement
A minimum of IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band less than 6.0, or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English requirements web page.

There are currently no relevant Australian professional bodies which accredit the Graduate Certificate in Project Management (GradCertPM) program. The program consults closely with the School Advisory Committee (SAC), whose membership is drawn from project management field. Ongoing engagement with the SAC ensures that this program is relevant to industry needs and expectations.

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
