Objectives of the program
The program is designed to enable you, as a practising manager, to become more knowledgeable about and more highly skilled in working within a complex and dynamic environment. It will enable you to understand the forces that shape this environment and to be critically reflective on the range of possible outcomes and consequences of your decisions and actions within it. The program will give you an understanding of the historical and theoretical foundations of management and organisation and will enable you to apply theory in interpreting and analysing management practice, through both case examples and personal investigation. You will develop an understanding of management as a social process that involves consideration of the interests and needs of, and engagement with a broad range of stakeholders.

Exit Point:
Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Management will be eligible to apply for the Graduate Diploma in Management or the Master of Management, receiving four exemptions.

A good undergraduate degree, preferably in management or a related discipline.
Applicants without an undergraduate degree but with at least five years work experience in a management role may also be considered for entry on an individual basis.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees
Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses, other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.

As a student enrolled in a program at RMIT University you may access the extensive services, facilities and study space provided by the University Library. Resources include comprehensive collections of books, periodicals and other course related materials, such as DVD’s, magazines, slides, films etc. You may also make use of computer laboratories with access to a wide range of desktop publishing software and access the expanding virtual collection of electronic resources and networks, including product data, e-books, electronic journals and newspapers, web based tutorials, online reference and document delivery services etc. all of which are accessible on and off campus 24 hours per day.
