Purpose of the Program

The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology program is designed for non-computing graduates who wish to make a career change and enter into the ever evolving ICT industry. This program is also suitable for IT graduates who wish to upskill to enhance your career prospects.

As a graduate of this program you will have state-of-the-art knowledge and skills in programming, databases and internet technology.  You will have the theoretical knowledge and practical skills for entry level positions in software development.

Graduates of the Graduate Certificate in Information Technology are guaranteed entry into the Master of Information Technology (MC208) and will receive 48 credit points of credit

Entrance requirements

Program Entry Requirements

An Australian bachelor degree in any discipline or equivalent; or

A minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in programming (web, application, database); software engineering; system, functional or business analysis; information, system or enterprise architecture; ICT management; administration (network, systems); support (desktop, helpdesk, system); web design/media; business information systems or information systems.

International qualifications are assessed according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

English Language Requirements (International students only)

A minimum IELTS (Academic module) overall score of 6.5, with no band below 6.0; or equivalent. For equivalents to English entry requirements, see the English equivalents web page.

External accreditation and industry links

The School has a very strong Industry Advisory Committee, which is the main link between the program and industry. Membership includes staff from major IT companies with global and local presence. The committee meets quarterly and provides feedback on the currency of our programs, the changing needs of Industry and has input into the design of new programs. It also actively contributes to the School through participation in seminars, marketing events, industry awards and scholarships.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
