Approach to learning and assessment

You will experience a range of learning environments – lectures, individual and group work. Lectures are used extensively in the program to communicate knowledge and guide your learning. A large proportion of time throughout the program is spent under supervision in the on-campus psychology clinic treating clients presenting with a variety of psychological, educational and developmental problems. In addition, you will be required to undertake a number of practicum placements off campus in supervised psychological practice.

The assessment of many units within the courses is undertaken through a mixture of continual and final assessment. You will be assessed by a variety of methods as appropriate to the material being taught and the skills being acquired. Written and oral examinations, assignments, oral and written individual and group presentations, psychological reports, and video presentations are examples of the types of assessments used.

If you have a long term medical condition, disability and/or other form of disadvantage it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or the Equitable Learning Services https://www.rmit.edu.au/students/support-and-facilities/student-support/equitable-learning-services if you would like to find out more.
