Approach to learning and assessment

The learning experiences offered in this program are designed to foster excellence in project management practice and to support continuous improvement in your professional practice. You will develop your ability to integrate project management theoretical and conceptual knowledge with the practice of project management, and develop the skills required to effectively project mange diverse projects. You will engage in  learning experiences which reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the profession.  

Your learning experiences will engage you in a broad mix of learning activities including lectures, work based simulations, interactive seminars, on line discussions, group work, and industry and research led projects. You will be encouraged to pursue your own research and intellectual interests related to the project management profession and your learning will be informed and enriched by current and emerging research into the profession of project management.

Assessment is designed to give you opportunities to demonstrate your capabilities You will find that the forms of assessment used may be different for each course. depending on the course objectives and learning outcomes.

Your assessment in this program will include all or some of the following;

  • Examinations: an individual form of assessment where you are asked to demonstrate your capability to explain principles and solve problems;
  • Assignments and projects: some will require you to demonstrate your ability to work alone, while some will involve group work, requiring you to work as part of a team with other students;
  • Reflective journals: where you pause to consider what you have learnt and reflect on the further development of the related capability;
  • Assessed tutorials or presentations:a form of in-class test which you will be required to complete either individually or as a team.

Work integrated learning

  • BUSM 4317  Project Management Practice

This course is designed to develop your capacity to undertake problem based investigations in workplace settings.  In doing so, you will integrate and apply industry feedback to refine your project management approach.
