Objectives of the program

The Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management is designed to develop the professional management competencies of current and future leaders in strategic logistics and supply chain management who seek to enhance their career prospects in business and government organisations, locally, nationally and internationally. 

As a student you will develop capabilities in the management of the creation and implementation of efficient, effective, and sustainable strategies over the logistics lifecycle and the entire supply chain (or supply network) in diverse and complex work environments.  Core studies include the principles and practices of logistics and supply chain management, strategic supply chain management, and supply chain sustainability.

Articulation and pathways

The Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management has two intermediate exit points: the Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics Management (8 courses or 96 credit points), and the Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain and Logistics Management (4 courses or 48 credit points).

Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Certificate in Supply Chain and Logistics Management will obtain credit for four core courses in the Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management and will be eligible to apply for exemptions equivalent to one semester of study, leaving an additional one year or two semesters to complete the Masters program.

Students who have successfully completed the Graduate Diploma in Supply Chain and Logistics Management will obtain credit for eight core courses in the Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management and will be eligible to apply for exemptions equivalent to one year of study, leaving an additional half year or one semester to complete the Masters program.

On completion of the Master of Supply Chain and Logistics Management program students can enroll in the Master of Commerce and gain a double degree by completing 4 additional courses. To gain the Master of Commerce students need to compete the two core course of the M.Comm program — BUSM3886 Business and Government in the Global Context and ISYS2412 Professional Business Practice. Additionally students need to complete one research course of at least 12 credit points and one elective from a range of available ones. Entrance requirements

Students who have successfully completed a bachelor degree in logistics and supply chain, transport, business management, engineering and science, economics, planning or geography are encouraged to apply.  Those applicant who have less than two year of professional experience in the supply chain management and logistics field will be required to enrol in the course Professional Logistics Practice to make up for this lack of professional experience. Defence personnel above the rank of captain with five years’ logistics operations management experience may apply for entrance and will be considered after an interview.  Applicants holding a management position with more than 10 years’ business/military experience, including management responsibility for an aspect of logistics operations and systems.  Some form of management education is preferred. 

All non-Australian residents and overseas full-fee paying students must provide evidence of one of the following:

  • IELTS – 6.5+ (no band below 6.0)
  • TOEFL Paper based – 580+ (TWE 4.5+)
  • TOEFL Computer based – 237+ (TWE 4.5+)
  • RMIT English Worldwide (REW) – Advanced Level 2

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees.  Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
