Purpose of the Program

The Master of International Business is designed to prepare you for a career in international corporate, government or not-for-profit organisations. The program builds the knowledge and skills necessary for critical and creative approaches to international business by providing advanced study in contemporary international business theory and practice that is supported by ethical and sustainable business decision-making. It will also provide you with the capacity to address the international regulation of business and critically evaluate the impacts of decisions and practice through case studies and interactive and experiential learning activities. 

The capstone experience relates to the understanding and analysis of international business from a sustainable perspective. This program comprises of courses that provide special emphasis on sustainability and sustainable international business. The course on BUSM4388 Sustainable International Business Futures has specially been designed to introduce such experience. 

The core research course of this program is BUSM4448 Business Research Design. This course is designed to develop your knowledge of research principles and methods and how to apply them within the contemporary business environment. You will have the opportunity to conduct a research project/proposal and further develop your skills in research methodology.

Articulation and pathways

1. Students admitted with the equivalent of an Australian Bachelor degree or higher level qualification in business (or a related discipline) will be exempted from completing four (4) courses (48 credit points), detailed below, and will be required to complete an additional twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. 

2. Students will be exempted from completing the four (4) courses (48 credit points) below: 

  • Three (3) Business and Law option courses (36 credit points) 

  • One (1) University Postgrad Elective (12 credit points) 

  1. Students who successfully complete the RMIT Graduate Certificate in International Business will be exempted from completing the four (4) discipline courses completed in the Graduate Certificate in 

International Business and will be required to complete an additional twelve (12) courses (144 credit points) in order to qualify for the degree. 

Please refer to the Masters Advanced Standing Credit Procedure for additional information regarding the recency of previous qualifications. 

Credit outside of the above arrangements will be assessed consistently with the RMIT University credit policy and procedures. If you wish to apply for a credit transfer/RPL, please refer to Apply for credit.

Student expenses and charges in addition to fees

Once you are enrolled as a student in this program you will need to allow for expenses other than university tuition fees. Additional expenses may relate to the purchase of lecture notes, textbooks, stationery, consumables such as printer paper, fees levied by commercial internet service providers for internet access outside of the university campus, and other relevant costs.
