Program Learning Outcomes Statement
The practice of information and knowledge management requires practitioners to effectively identify, select, acquire, organize, manage, disseminate and add value to information and knowledge through analysis, summary and interpretation within a range of organisational environments. An understanding of cultural, social and ethical values frameworks informs the practice of information and knowledge management and is a defining capability in a sustainable global knowledge economy. Being information literate and able to use a knowledge management process approach to work is at the heart of the profession. A capable information and knowledge manager is one who is able to work effectively in a variety of information and knowledge environments and successfully integrate high level communication capability with sound technical abilities and proficiency in a range of skills to produce effective solutions to information and knowledge management problems. They will equip others to better manage their own information and knowledge resources. They will equip their organisation to position itself strategically through the effective capture and dissemination of knowledge. A capable information and knowledge manager is one who is able to reflect on practice, judge the effectiveness of systems and behaviours, and adapt to changing information and knowledge needs and to changing technological environments.
