Purpose of the Program

In this program you will master a specific body of knowledge, coupled with cognitive, technical and communication skills that are critical in managing the creation and implementation of efficient, effective, and sustainable strategies over the logistics lifecycle and the entire supply chain (or supply network). You will be able to apply this knowledge and skills set in diverse and complex work environments.  Your learning outcomes will be ultimately self-created but a range of structured learning activities, including individual and group research projects, prescribed reading material and intensive workshops will influence your learning endeavours.

The diversity of nations and ethnicities represented in the student cohort in which you will study is also a potentially rich learning source.  Data provided by Open Universities Australia states that the number of logistics managers employed in Australia almost doubled between November 2000 and November 2011, and ‘employment for Logistics Managers has grown at a rate of 30% over the past 5 years and is expected to grow strongly over the next 5 years’.  Post graduate careers in supply chain and logistics management encompass a range of positions including Procurement Manager, Logistics Project Manager, Logistics and Purchasing Manager, Operations Manager, Material Handling Manager, Purchasing & Logistics Manager, Purchasing and Supply Manager, Site Operations Manager, Transport  Manager and Warehouse and Inventory manager. These roles are undertaken across the whole spectrum of organizations, from primary producers all the way to service sector organizations.

The program will be shortly reaccredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (Australia).

Applicants who have successfully completed any undergraduate degree (or equivalent) and are admitted into the program will receive advanced standing equivalent to four courses. See Articulation and Pathways for further information.
