Purpose of the Program

The fields of Aerospace and Aviation are associated with cutting edge technology and consistently lead in innovation and salary levels. This degree supports your employability in this high technology area and is particularly designed to reflect the needs of the international workforce in the aerospace and aviation industry. Graduates from the Masters Engineering (Aerospace and Aviation) program will have well-developed technical skills covering a broad range of areas in Aerospace and Aviation. The Asian region is the key growth area for the Aviation market, where double digit growth rates in air traffic exist in China, Hong Kong and Singapore. Massive passenger growth means many more aircraft, larger and more airports, and larger and new airlines. All of these lead to more aerospace engineers, and more aviation related employees. These all will need more leaders as these areas grow and this program is intended to provide graduates with the advanced skills to be leaders in this area.

The objectives of the Master of Engineering (Aerospace and Aviation) program are to educate you as an aerospace and aviation industry professional who is able to:

  • analyse complex engineering assets in the aerospace and aviation environment, and develop engineering, scientific and technological solutions to ensure problem-free operations;
  • find innovative solutions from an array of possibilities through systematic problem solving and engineering / technological systems design methodologies operating in the aerospace and aviation industry;
  • analyse and implement novel solutions for aerospace and aviation systems for challenging problems and opportunities;
  • communicate with a wide range of key aerospace and aviation industry stakeholders in professional and effective manner;
  • build, lead and work with teams with trust and respect;
  • achieve results in an industry characterised by global completion and driven by rapidly changing market forces.

In this program you will undertake a capstone project with the 48 credit point course OENG1088 Master's Research Project (or the alternative of taking both of the 24 credit point courses OENG1089 Master's Research Project Part 1 and OENG1090 Master's Research Project Part 2). In this project you will consolidate and expand the knowledge gained throughout the program through an in-depth experimental and/or analytical study of a highly technical and/or engineering management application.

The program is delivered in face-to-face mode at the City campus.
