Further details

As a teacher at the School of Textiles and Design where he teaches Drawing, Artistic Design and Fine Art Conception, Eichinger’s research practice is framed by his international artistic experience that includes the role of the portrait in his artwork. In particular, he will draw reference to and discuss the relationship between traditional artworks such as painting and drawing and the open space of the digital world.

Through investigating the nature and role of drawing and portraiture in today’s urbanised and digitalised society through pairing artists from Germany and Australia to draw each other’s portraits within the public space of Skype, the outcomes of Skypetrait will be exhibited at Project Space/Spare Room at RMIT University and at Federation Square during April and in Germany in May, as well as in print and online.
