You have one in 333 chances in receiving a bursary.

If you are an undergraduate student who also takes on carer duties, you may be eligible for a 2016 Bursary with applications opening 18 August.

The Young Carer Bursary Programme provides financial assistance to help support young carers to complete or return to education while continuing their caring role. The Programme aims to reduce financial pressures for young carers through the granting of a bursary, targeting young carers most in need.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, a young carer is:

A person of any age who provides any informal assistance, in terms of help or supervision, to an older person or someone who has a disability or a long-term health condition. This assistance has been, or is likely to be, ongoing for at least six months.

The Australian Government has committed $1 million each year for bursaries in 2016 and 2017. The Young Carer Bursary Programme will grant 333 bursaries at $3000 each in 2016 and 2017.

Applications will open on Tuesday 18 August 2015 and close at 5pm AEST Monday 28 September 2015.

To apply or for more information, go to Young Carer Bursary Programme.
