Exhibit work in the Fashion Festival program
Arrogant Grace film still – Alexandra Kirwood.
You are invited to submit work for Movements; an exhibition and program exploring ideas of movement within design, textiles, art and fashion disciplines.
As part of the 2016 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival Cultural Program, the curators of the exhibition wants you to think about the role movement plays in fashion. Movement can refer to a number of things; the movement of the garment on the body, movement of fashion objects from maker to store to buyer to wearer, movement in terms of trends, movement of the body itself, performance or activation.
Movements are taking place around the world in many forms; the movement of people from country to country, protest movements, the movement of goods in a globalised world, or the movement of ideas and trends in an increasingly fast paced world.
Your work will be exhibited within First Site Gallery. In a normally still space, they are interested in bringing movement into the gallery.
With the exhibition showcasing a diverse range of mediums and approaches, your work can take the form of garments, accessories, textiles, photography, multimedia works, zines, publications, jewellery, objects, or performance based works.
Applications close Friday 27th November 2015. However, works for exhibition do not need to be completed until 8 February 2016.
For eligibility criteria, to apply or for more information, go to Annual fashion and textiles exhibition.
