Free tram zone in Melbourne CBD

The free tram zone in Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD) kicked-off on 1 January making the centre of the city accessible to all.

This means if you’re studying on City campus and decide you want to check out the sea life across town at the Melbourne Aquarium, all you need to do is jump on any tram within the free tram zone. You don’t even need a myki! But before you get too excited, remember the free zone only applies to trams, not trains or buses and so long as your tram journey starts or finishes within the boundaries of the free tram zone

The new Free Tram Zone includes the area from the iconic Queen Victoria Market, across to Victoria Harbour in Docklands, up to Spring Street and over to Flinders Street Station and Federation Square.

For exact boundaries of the free tram zone and for more information, visit Public Transport Victoria.
