Course Description

This unit of study is designed to attract students of all ages and backgrounds. The purposes and function of this subject is to distribute stronger communication ties between novices and paraprofessionals within the constructions and building arena. The Course Aims to cover the essential higher order communication & research competencies required of a construction manager.

Learning Outcomes

The Learning outcomes will address critical factors such as negotiation skills and how to present technical reports with clarity and confidence. The course will adopt learning theories such as the “attribution Theory” (B. Weiner) and the Cognitive Dissonance Theory (L. Festinger) as a basis for structured and effective communication.

Details of Learning Activities

On a successful completion, you will posses the competency required to effectively communicate with construction managers and have a sound knowledge of report witting and research analysis to be proficient in higher order communication.

Overview of Assessment

You must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of the competencies in order to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks. You will be assessed by written reports, presentation and a classroom based testing. Strategies used for assessment will reflect real world problems. At this level you must demonstrate understanding of specialised knowledge with depth in some areas. The learning must reflect a standard appropriate to advanced study.
