This course describes the knowledge and skills required to promote and represent the organisation to the community. The skills described in this course may be applied across a range of community services workplace contexts.

Details of Learning Activities
You will be involved in learning activities in a day long workshop. Activities will include group discussions, critique of reading material and self-reflection exercises. Reflecting on your own work context is a significant aspect of this course, and you will be given opportunities during the workshop to discuss and think about your practice.

These assessments are part of an integrated development project which has been divided into two parts.
Part A is a community development project plan.
Part B is a community development project report.
Assessment Tasks
You will complete 2 assessments as part of this course. Note that these assessments are part of an integrated development project which has been divided into two parts. Part A is a community development project plan. Part B is a community development project report-part B:
1: Systemic task one: Community Development project plan (Part A)
You will plan a community development (CD) initiative designed to facilitate access of one or more a culturally diverse communities to your service . You will note how it will be potentially able to promote CaLD access to mental health care at early intervention and primary health care levels as part of a service development strategy and how this may result in changes to organisational policies. Your analysis of an existing community development project will include an analysis of how this planned initiative reflects current trends and practices in community development and will reflect evidence-based practice.
Your project plan should also include the following opportunities:
1 promotion of community awareness of the mental health services your agency can provide
2 promotion of community awareness of mental health issues
3 access to services for culture diverse community members
4 a strategy to positively promote your service to CaLD communities
2: Systemic task one: Community Development project implementation report (Part B)
You will report on the successes and challenges of your community development (CD) initiative designed to facilitate access of one or more a culturally diverse communities to your service. You will note how effectively you are able to engage one or more CaLD communities to access your mental health agencies’ care at early intervention and primary health care levels. You will document how this relates to the furthering of your agencies’ service development strategy and how this may result in changes to organisational policies. Your analysis of your community development project will include an analysis of how this initiative reflects current trends and practices in community development and will reflect evidence-based practice.
Your project implementation report should also include the following:
1 the effectiveness of your ability to promote the services of your organisation
2 effectiveness of your engagement with community leaders and community members and how this may have resulted in changes to the services you provide enhancement of access to services for culture diverse community members
3 evaluation of the impact of the initiative on your organisation and on the community
