Course Description

This course is part of a full time integrated program.

The focus of this unit is on interpreting, using and calculating with money and time in familiar situations. It also focuses on interpreting and using position, location and maps to give and follow oral and written directions.


Pre-requisite Courses and Assumed Knowledge and Capabilities

This unit must be co-delivered and assessed with at least one of the language (Listening and Speaking or Reading and Writing) units from the Certificate II in ESL.

Overview of Assessment

You must demonstrate an understanding of all elements of the competencies in order to be deemed competent. Assessment methods have been designed to measure achievement of each competency in a flexible manner over a range of assessment tasks.

  • ability to interpret, use and calculate costs in familiar situations.
  • ablity to interpret, use and calculate with time in familiar situations 
  • ability to interpret and use position, location and maps to give and follow oral and written directions
  • present a profolio
  •  a mid semester interview.

Feedback will be provided throughout the semester in class and/or online discussions, through individual and group feedback on practical exercises and by individual consultation.
