Course Description

This course will introduce you to the knowledge and skills required to support a person with a disability who is ageing, and identify current and future needs.

It will assist you to support the rights and interests of the person, to support their independent thinking and action and develop an understanding of the needs of a person wtih a disability who has dementia.

Learning Outcomes

1. Assist people with disabilities who are ageing to identify their current and future needs.

2. Support the interests and needs of people with disabilities who are ageing.

3. Encourage and support people with disabilities who are ageing to exercise independent action and thinking.

4. Support the interests, rights and needs of people with disabilities with pervasive age related changes, including people wtih dementia.


Overview of Assessment

Assessment tasks may include: participation in and reflection on role plays, discussion of case studies, demonstrations in a simulated work environment, and questionnaires.
