Course Description

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to mark out plumbing materials prior to fabricating piping, steel sections, ducting and sheet materials, roofing and cladding.

In some jurisdictions, this unit of competency may form part of accreditation, licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements.

3.5Material is marked out in compliance with specified measurements.
3.6Dimensions are checked for accuracy and compliance with plans and specifications.

1.4Tasks are planned and sequenced in conjunction with others involved in or affected by the work.
1.5Tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), are selected and checked for serviceability.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment may incorporate a variety of methods including written/oral activities and demonstration of practical skills to the relevant industry standards. Participants are advised that they are likely to be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment activities to their teacher/assessor. Feedback will be provided throughout the course.


Assessment Tasks

Students are required to complete three different types of assessment tasks
1. Assessment 1 - Workbook activities as evidence of classroom participation ( 25% weighing)
2. Assessment 2 - In class test assessing essential skills and knowledge. (weighing 25%)
3. Assessment 3 – Drawings using work book project 6 (Draw job 20 – 65mm round penetration in a deck roof, Draw job 21 – 200mm x 200mm square duct through a deck roof and Draw job 24 – Non ferrous piping part 1 practice job). (weighing 50%)

To successfully complete this unit, a student needs to be deemed competent (CA grade) in all three assessment tasks.
