Course Description

This unit will provide the skills and knowledge on selection of textile samples, testing and interpretation of results associated with product development within the TCF enterprise.

Details of Learning Activities

PLANNED LEARNING EXPERIENCES-

Through a range of learning experiences including interactive workshops, project activities, workplace simulated demonstrations and reflective written assignments.

• Confirm selection of sample/material for testing.
• Determine acceptance criteria for testing of sample.
• Confirm test requirements against enterprise procedures.
• Set up and confirm calibration of test equipment.
• Organise tests to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Perform tests in accordance with selected standards.
• Collate and analyse test results in accordance with enterprise procedures.
• Interpret outcomes against process or product requirements.
• Review acceptance criteria.
• Take action where required on test results.
• Report outcomes in accordance to enterprise procedures and appropriate personnel are advised.
• Prepare reports and file according to enterprise procedures.

Assessment Tasks

Assessment is competency based. It may include written report, written test, verbal questions, project in work place or class and observation of the participant in class or workplace.

To determine the competency in this unit, the participant will be required to demonstrate the ability to:

• Select sample/material for testing
• Select appropriate test method, test equipment and perform calibration
• Perform tests according to selected standard
• Interpret the results
• Record results in a report form

• Assessment timeline: Progressive assessment.

• Learners can make a claim for Approved Prior Learning on entry to the course

• Criteria for your results: HD (high distinction – indicative score 80-100%) or DI (distinction – indicative score 70-79%) or CR (credit – indicative score 60-69%) or PA (pass – indicative score 50-59%) or NN (fail – indicative score 0-49%).

• Negotiation to vary assessment methods may be made in special circumstances. This is subject to the discretion of the trainer after consideration of the learner’s request and is done on a needs basis.
