Course Description

This course has two parts:
Part 1 is Repair and Maintain AV Equipment
Part 2 is Presentation Technology
In the repair and maintain AV equipment part Iyou will build on your learning from the course: EEET, 6447C: Repair and maintain audiovisual equipment that you studied during semester 1. You will use your multi-meter to test, check and maintain typical items of audiovisual equipment . The course also covers principles of electrical safety and an introduction to the practice of equipment Testing and Tagging.

In Part 2 you will be provided with the skills and knowledge necessary to set-up, disassemble and pack-up professional level presentation and projection equipment.
You will gain the following skills/abilities on satisfactory completion of this course:
1. Ability to set-up, disassemble and pack-up professional level presentation and projection equipment.
2. Ability to distinguish between different technical standards of equipment
3. Ability to understand the theory and operation of professional level screens, monitors and projection equipment.

Learning Outcomes

Part 1: Repair and Maintain AV Equipment
On satisfactory completion of this course you will be able to:
1. Use a digital multimeter and electronic cable tester to test fuses, leads and power cables.
2. Use a digital multimeter to test and check the amplifier circuits that you constructed last semester during the soldering course.
3. Undertake basic AV equipment fault-finding.
4. Understand the principles of electrical safety and the electrical equipment Test & Tag process.
(A Test & Tag qualification is highly valued by AV employers and the skills and knowledge that you will gain from this course will greatly assist you to complete a Test & Tag course.)

Part 2: Presentation Equipment
On satisfactory completion of this course you will be able to:
1. Set-up a range of professional level presentation equipment including LCD projectors, plasma monitors and large scale presentation screens
2. Carry out probelms solving and trouble shooting techniques to ensure the above equipment works
3. Pack-down the equipment efficiantly
4. Use appropriate OH&S and teamwork skills
5. Use the internet to research the latest in presentation technology 


Overview of Assessment

1.    Answer oral questions and participate in practical tasks at various stages to demonstrate understanding of underpinning knowledge.

2.    Practical task B
In groups you will be required to operate an AV presentation system.
50%    TAFE WEEK 16   
3.    Theory Test. Answer range of multiple-choice, short and long answer questions related to class notes and discussions.
